Students burned effigies of Barack Obama and chanted 'death to America' in eastern Afghanistan today - as anger towards the U.S. soldier who massacred 16 civilians on Sunday continued to rise.
Taliban militants also opened fire on a delegation of senior Afghan officials - including two of President Hamid Karzai's brothers - who were visiting the southern villages he targeted.
The attack raised worries of a repeat of the wave of violent demonstrations that rocked the nation after last month's burning of Korans by troops at a U.S. base.
It came as it was revealed the 38-year-old father-of-two soldier may have come under an intense and blind fury that led him to indiscriminately kill after suffering a traumatic brain injury.
