George Clooney: Comment -- Tim Robey, The Telegraph
Call it a stunt by all means, but it was one that did the job: more people know about the humanitarian crisis in Sudan today than they did yesterday, because of George Clooney’s arrest during a protest outside the country’s embassy in Washington.
The Twitterverse went gaga at the news, with mixed messages of solidarity and eye-rolling. Was this celebrity activism for an admirable cause, or just another depressing sign that the media will only flag up international crises when there’s a Hollywood angle? In fairness to Clooney, it’s possible to feel both ways at once: like many actor-activists in the past, he knows how to play the game and use his own profile to highlight a burning issue, which is not to say we can’t bemoan why this should even be necessary.

My Comment: I agree, and the above CBC video report is also spot on. Celebrities have an impact .... in fact .... they always have but more so in today's 24/7 universe.
