Russia Considers Lending Base for NATO Afghan Operations -- Voice of America

U.S. and NATO troops and military supplies could soon be making stopovers in Russia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed Wednesday the details of a draft proposal that would give the United States and other NATO members use of an air base in the city of the Ulyanovsk. NATO forces would be able to use the base to help get troops and supplies into Afghanistan.

My Comment: This is another case where .... do not listen to what they say, but pay attention to what they do. Aside from all of the Russian criticism of the U.S. and NATO, there is a recognition that there are adversaries out there that are far worse .... the Taliban and Al Qaeda to name a few. And while the U.S. and NATO will have to pay for this "service", I am betting that it will be cheaper than using Pakistan and/or any other country.
