U.S. Secretary of Defense Panetta: 'International Permission’ Trumps Congressional Permission For Military Actions

Panetta: 'International Permission’ Trumps Congressional Permission For Military Actions -- Breitbart

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta appeared at a Senate Armed Services Committee congressional hearing, where he said “legal basis” was needed to initiate a no-fly zone over Syria.

WNU Editor: The link is here.

My Comment: These remarks are unbelievable .... and coming from the US Secretary of Defense. What a strange AND WRONG interpretation of the U.S. constitution .... that foreign powers/NATO/UN/etc. have "some" legal authority over how the U.S. deploys it's military or to go to war .... and not Congress .... wow .... I just do not know how to respond to that.

I am speechless.

It looks like you are misinterpreting Panetta's comments just as Sessions is. Interesting how Sen Levin's comments are left out of this video. I wonder why that is. Probably because you grabbed it from Breitbart or Drudge.

Thank you AHo for your comment. I listened to the entire video .... and got others from YouTube to confirm it. Panetta remarks are VERY VERY clear .... he was attempting to mix the need of an international consensus for handling Syria with U.S. Congressional authority and law .... and he failed miserably to explain it. Even Sessions asked the same question more than once to confirm what Panetta was saying.
