In missive sent to President Peres on the occasion of Israel's 64th Independence Day, American President wishes Israel 'continued prosperity and a peaceful future.'

U.S. President Barack Obama sent Tuesday a letter to his Israeli counterpart Shimon Peres, congratulating him on the occasion of Israel's 64th anniversary, adding that the United States was "steadfast in its commitment to Israel’s security."

In the White House missive, the American president extended "warmest regards and congratulations on behalf of the American people," adding: "Based on shared values and interests, the bonds between our two countries are deep and strong."
