America's Latest Medal Of Honor Recipient

America's Newest Hero, Spec. Leslie Sabo: Lost In Battle And Then The Files -- Investors.com

There have been a total of 3,457 Medal of Honor winners since the first was awarded by a grateful nation in 1863.

Leslie H. Sabo Jr. is the 249th man recognized with the Medal from the Vietnam War.

Today, there are less than 100 living recipients. They receive numerous entitlements and privileges, including a special monthly stipend currently about $1,200, increased retirement benefits, the right to burial in Arlington National Cemetery, invitations to all future presidential inaugurations and balls and their children may attend any U.S. service academy free of the normal nomination process.
