Pentagon Alarmed On How US Intelligence From Drones Was Used By Turkey In The Uludere Raid

US Role In Deadly Turkey Air Strike Sparks Alarm At Pentagon -- FOX News/Wall Street Journal

ULUDERE, Turkey -- A Turkish air strike that killed dozens of civilians near the Iraqi border last year sparked alarm at the Pentagon over how intelligence from US drones is being used by allies.

The strike in late December was meant to knock out Kurdish separatist fighters. Instead it killed 34 civilians smuggling gasoline, a tragic blunder in Turkey's nearly three-decade campaign against the guerrillas. The killings ignited protests across the country and prompted wide-ranging official inquiries.

The civilian toll also set off alarms at the Pentagon, as a US Predator drone spotted the men and pack animals, and American officers alerted Turkey.
