Panetta Warns Of ‘Disastrous’ Automatic Defense Cuts In January -- Stars And Stripes
Scheduled Congressional cuts to the defense budget in January would be overall “disastrous” for America, said Defense Secretary Leon Panetta in a Sunday interview on ABC’s “This Week.”
In addition to the defense budget reduction of $487 billion handed down by Congress, Panetta spoke specifically of the possibility of another $500 billion in automatic cuts at the beginning of next year, calling the move a “meat ax.”
