Suicide Bombing In Kandahar, Airstrike In Logar Mark Deadly Day In Afghanistan -- McClatchy News
KABUL, Afghanistan — Twenty-two civilians were killed and 50 wounded in a double suicide bombing on Wednesday in the restive southern province of Kandahar, while a further 18 were reported killed in a U.S.-led coalition airstrike in eastern Logar province.
The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), as the coalition is formally known, has disputed the report of casualties from the airstrike.
But even if the 18 Logar casualties are not confirmed, the attack at Kandahar will make this the bloodiest day in Afghanistan since a suicide bomber struck a Shiite shrine at Kabul in December, killing 84 civilians and wounding as many as 200.
