Pakistan's Spy Agency Is In Open Defiance Of The U.S.

Pakistan's Spy Agency Moves Toward Open Defiance Of U.S. -- Washington Examiner

"It is difficult to achieve peace in Afghanistan as long as there is safe haven for terrorists in Pakistan," he told reporters during his visit to the country's capital, Kabul. "We are reaching the limits of our patience for that reason. It is extremely important for Pakistan to take action to prevent [giving] the Haqqanis safe havens, and for terrorists to use their country as a safety net to conduct attacks on our forces."

My Comment:
With Pakistan's government and political class in crisis .... as illustrated by today's Pakistan Supreme Court ruling that stripped Yousuf Raza Gilani Of his Prime Minister-ship .... Pakistan's ISI and it's military know that the politicians are now too preoccupied with doing politics than doing their job .... which in normal conditions would include overseeing the ISI and the military.

For U.S. policy makers .... they must realize that issuing threats against the Pak government is not going to work .... that if anything, Pakistan's government is now entering a dysfunctional state. Instead .... Washington will probably need to put pressure on the leadership of the ISI and the generals who run the military .... and hope that they can convince a few of them on where this debacle is heading.

Unfortunately .... if I was a betting man .... my money would be on the U.S. failing to accomplish anything with Pakistan in the foreseeable future.
