My Comment: This is not good.

People are fed up. Most common workers don't give a damn about the Olympics, and a lot of people I know in England feel the same way. They're fed up with the amount of money spent on not only providing security for the Olympics, but with the fiasco that is surrounding it along with the feeling that the Government is just throwing money away for the sake of pride.
A lot of the unions have been demanding better conditions for a while now and have had nothing but a stone-wall put in front of them. Striking during the Olympics simply gives them the media attention that they craved for.
I don't necessarily agree with it due to the chaos it will cause in terms of security, but I do agree it makes a lot more sense to strike during the event.
