Turkey Leader’s Meeting With Controversial Kurdish Politician Raises Hopes -- Wall Street Journal
ISTANBUL–Flagging hopes of solving Turkey’s so-called Kurdish problem any time soon were given a lift over the weekend when one of Turkey’s most high-profile and polarizing Kurdish lawmakers, Leyla Zana, met Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The unlikely face-to-face meeting on Saturday received strong media attention here. Ms. Zana has been hailed as both a hero and a dangerous radical. Awarded the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought by European Parliament in 1995, she was imprisoned for 10 years for speaking Kurdish in her inauguration at Turkish parliament almost twenty years ago.

My Comment: The Kurds want to preserve their cultural identity .... the Turks are saying no. My prediction .... under these conditions reconciliation is not possible.
