U.S. Defense Cuts?

The fear-mongering about impending defense cuts is becoming deafening. Yet even if sequestration happens in January, the Congressional Budget Office says the Pentagon will still be spending as much as it did in 2006. While the cuts may be crude – that is how Congress wrote the law imposing it – they are not draconian.

My Comment: Forget about 2006 .... I would love to see government spending going back to 1996 levels. Unfortunately .... we do not live in that world anymore. Defense spending .... and government spending in general .... rarely declines .... especially now when so many are dependent on entitlements.

But I think those days are over. Trillion dollar deficits are not sustainable .... the day will come when those cuts will need to be made .... and I doubt that the defense budget will be ignored.
