As Civil War Rages In Syria, It Is Unlikely That There Will Be A Rapid Resolution Of This Conflict -- Michael Burleigh, Daily Mail
The International Committee of the Red Cross has officially declared that a civil war is raging in Syria. Although this has been obvious for some time, this declaration means that all parties to the conflict are legally obliged to respect the Geneva Conventions, regarding avoiding civilian casualties, treatment of the wounded and prisoners of war.

My Comment: The same was said about Gaddafi .... that his forces were positioned to outlast the rebels for a year or two .... but as we all know, the opposite happened. Syria will probably turn out the same way. The major cities will quickly fall and the Assad family (and loyalists) will flee to Alawite dominated regions and do their last stand before fleeing the country or being killed.
