Petraeus Briefs Lawmakers Amid Middle East Violence -- The Hill
CIA Director David Petraeus traveled to Capitol Hill to brief lawmakers on Thursday in the aftermath of the attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Libya and embassies in Egypt and Yemen.
Petraeus briefed the Senate Intelligence Committee in a closed-door, 90-minute meeting that had been previously scheduled but took on a new significance in the wake of the attacks Tuesday night that left U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three others dead.
At the end of the meeting, Petraeus was whisked past a throng of television cameras staking out the briefing. He did not take questions or give a statement.
