Republicans Blast W.H. Over Missed Deadline -- Politico
Republican leaders blasted the White House on Thursday after it appeared likely it would miss a deadline to detail how it would implement automatic, across-the-board budget cuts early next year.
Under the terms of a bill signed last month by President Barack Obama, the Office of Management and Budget owed a report to Congress on the effects of the budget restrictions called “sequestration,” which hawks have warned would be devastating to national defense. But by the end of the work day in Washington, as Obama prepared to deliver his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., GOP leaders said they had heard nothing.
