Boko Haram Leaders Shot Dead -- The Telegraph

Two members of Boko Haram, the radical Islamist sect responsible for hundreds of killings this year alone, have been shot dead in Kano, northern Nigeria, by soldiers.

A military official confirmed that the dead included the spokesman for the sect, and a commander who operates in Kogi state, south of Nigeria's capital.

Soldiers patrolling the boarder checkpoints approached the vehicle which contained the sect spokesman, his wife and their children, as well as the commander.

The events that followed have not been clarified, but the military official said soldiers shot dead both the commander and the spokesman. Officials have stated that the wife and children remain in military custody.
