US Ambassador And Three Staff 'Killed In Rocket Attack' In Libya Just Hours After Radical Islamists Stormed Embassy In Protests Over Film Attacking Prophet -- Daily Mail

* Christopher Stevens died of 'smoke inhalation' after being pulled from car outside consulate in Benghazi
* He had been trying to evacuate staff at US compound as furious mob of extremists attacked

* Sean Smith, a foreign service information manager, was also shot dead by armed militants
* Ambassador Stevens is first US diplomat to be killed in the line of duty since Adolph Dubs in Afghanistan in 1979

* Marines are on their way to Benghazi to provide additional security to the area

President Barack Obama is set to deploy a team of 50 marines to Libya after a bloody attack on a US consulate which left American ambassador Christopher Stevens, two marines and a communications officer dead.

The elite team will be sent to guard the compound in Benghazi which was left ravaged by firebombs during the attack. In the aftermath of the riot, looters are understood to have gutted the building.
