A Close Look At Iran's Growing Military Arsenal -- Business Insider
Iran's military has 545,000 active personnel and some of the most advanced military technology of anyone out there.
The thing is, the United States gave them a lot of it.
Granted, it wasn't the modern Iran that we stocked up with some of the hottest tech of the time, but the pre-revolutionary country that, at one point, was a key ally of the United States in the Middle East.
Still, Iran has developed their own military industrial complex to develop, maintain, and upgrade military resources.
And they've gotten pretty good at it.

Very strange article...
All of their weapons that have become standard are built internally or imported from the likes of China/Russia.
I will flatout and say this article is just wrong and ill-researched. Yes, the United States gave them technology (wouldn't call it advance) decades ago. However it sounds like the author is trying to create an image of Iran that isn't true. Most of that technology has faded out and been copied or replaced.
Iran has dated and old weapons by todays standards.
They have a rip-off copy of the AR-15, and their own internally built weapon that is a rip-off from the Famas, which is the Khaybar KH2002, which has been around for quite some time.
None of it is advanced by any means.
The same goes for their airforce and tanks.
Calling it advanced by any means is laughable...
