A CIA Veteran Transforms U.S. Counterterrorism Policy -- Washington Post
In his windowless White House office, presidential counterterrorism adviser John O. Brennan is compiling the rules for a war the Obama administration believes will far outlast its own time in office, whether that is just a few more months or four more years.
The “playbook,” as Brennan calls it, will lay out the administration’s evolving procedures for the targeted killings that have come to define its fight against al-Qaeda and its affiliates. It will cover the selection and approval of targets from the “disposition matrix,” the designation of who should pull the trigger when a killing is warranted, and the legal authorities the administration thinks sanction its actions in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia and beyond.

My Comment: He has not only transformed America's counterterrorism policy under President Obama, but there is a very good chance that it will still continue under a Romney administration if Mitt Romney should win the election.

I'm interested in your thoughts on Condoleezza Rice's comments on the Obama Administrations handeling of the Benghazi attacks. I've included two of her quotes: “We don’t have all the pieces and I think it’s easy to try and jump to conclusions about what might have happened here,” she told Fox’s Greta Van Susteren in an interview Wednesday. “It’s probably better to let the relevant bodies do their work.” and “You can’t simply keep your diplomats in a bunker,” she said. “They have to get out and do their work.”
She is partially right. There is much that is now known about the attack .... and more that is coming out everyday. The White House's initial reaction and story that this was a result of anti-Muslim movie has now been discounted .... they should have kept their own counsel, but why they pushed this story is still unknown right now. There is now a breaking news story that the a CIA team was refused 3 times to come to the aid of the officials who were fighting for their lives during this attack. Who said no to this CIA team, and why?
As I said. Through leaks we are now learning something new everyday .... and the more that I read and the more that I learn .... the more that I realize that this is turning from what I thought was some bad judgement calls to a full blown mess and disaster that makes everyone look bad. I appreciate the argument that it takes time to gather all the info and intel together .... but this attack happened 7 weeks ago (and counting) .... we are not stupid or blind .... patience is running out.
Got some more feedback on the Condoleezza Rice interview. My source tells me that she is wrong about the communications traffic and how long it would take for intelligence to figure out what was happening. Apparently .... because it was a consulate that was being attacked and that an Ambassador`s life was in danger .... the flash traffic that would result will be more than enough to inform everyone at the same time that a serious crisis was underway. To say that the intel and info was murky and that no one knew for sure what was happening is not true.
Sighhhh .... I suspect Eric that it will be only a few years from now that we will finally get the true details of who ordered "what and when" during the height of this crisis.
