Obama Says Faulty Information Went Out About Libya Attack -- L.A. Times
WASHINGTON -- President Obama on Wednesday acknowledged that his administration passed faulty information to the public about last month’s deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, but suggested those reports came in the interest of keeping the public abreast of what they knew at the time.
In an interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer that aired Wednesday night, Obama said that “as information came in, information was put out,” and that those reports “may not have always been right the first time.”
In a brief set of excerpts aired on the evening news, Obama also said he trusted that “if there’s something to be fixed, it’ll get fixed.”

My Comment: What's my take on Wednesday's Congressional hearings on the US consulate Benghazi attack .... I saw a pathetic group of US State Department officials trying to defend the indefensible, who in my opinion should now fall on their swords and resign from their jobs due to incompetence. I saw a bunch of Republicans who now smell blood in the water .... and there is a lot of blood in the water .... stumbling over each other in front of the cameras pontificating their outrage and disgust with what has happened .... but who cut State Department security a few months earlier. I then saw a bunch of Democrats who are now in full panic mode .... realizing that this entire affair has become a public relations nightmare in which high ranking officials have now been caught looking (and being) deceitful to the American public on what happened in Benghazi. And finally .... tonight .... I saw a US President who admitted that "faulty information" was released to the American public .... even though he and his intelligence officials knew within 24 hours (if not sooner) that this was a planned and coordinated terrorist attack against a US diplomatic installation .... but kept up with the lie for an additional two weeks.
This debacle reminds me of the Al Qaeda Madrid train bombing in 2004. An election was underway, and the ruling party blamed the Basque separatist group ETA for the bombing .... while evidence indicated that it was an Al Qaeda splinter group responsible for the bombing .... a fact that was confirmed when the bombers were quickly tracked down and their radical Islamic links exposed. The ruling Spanish party lost the election in what historians now believe was a reaction to the mishandling of the case and the misinformation given to the Spanish public. Is history repeating itself .... but this time with an American bent .... I guess we will find out in November.
On a side note .... where the hell is U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton?
