Egypt: Hamas, Israel Cease-Fire Likely To Be Announced Today -- McClatchy News

CAIRO — A six-day negotiation led by Egypt appears likely to result in a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas that may be announced as soon as today, marking a major de-escalation in a conflict that has killed at least 116 Palestinians and four Israelis and threatened to devolve into all-out war.

An adviser to Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi told McClatchy that the deal was near and could be announced at 2 p.m. EST, 9 p.m. in Cairo, and that the cease-fire would take effect at 5 p.m. EST – midnight in the Middle East.
