Operation 'to liberate the Taftanaz airbase' has begun in Idlib province, says anti-government opposition group.
A major assault has been launched by rebels in the northwest of Syria against the Taftanaz airbase, anti-government activists and a rights watchdog group have said.
The Syrian Revolution General Commission (SRGC), a network of opposition activists on the ground, said on Saturday that an operation had begun "to liberate the Taftanaz airbase", which is used to deploy fighter jets and helicopter gunships against their positions, the AP news agency reported.
