White House: We Can Stop A North Korean Nuke Strike -- USA Today

WASHINGTON—The White House said on Thursday that the United States is fully capable of defending against a North Korean ballistic missile strike.

Earlier on Thursday, the U.N. Security Council voted unanimously for new sanctions against North Korea which carried out a third nuclear test on Feb. 12. The new sanctions triggered Pyongyang to threaten on Thursday a nuclear strike against the United States.

"The United States is fully capable of defending against any North Korean ballistic missile attack," White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said.

My Comment: I am very familiar with the U.S. missile defense program .... so I am not that confident that it will be able to stop such a hypothetical attack. Fortunately .... North Korea's ballistic missiles have a history of not being reliable or accurate .... and will prbably not be capable of reaching the U.S. (for now).
