Will China Enforce U.N. Sanctions Against North Korea?



China Key To Enforcing U.N. Sanctions On N. Korea -- USA Today

New sanctions on North Korea have as little chance of stopping Pyongyang from developing a deliverable nuclear weapon as previous efforts, unless China gets more serious about enforcing them, nuclear experts and China watchers say.

The United Nations Security Council voted unanimously Thursday to boost sanctions against North Korea for its third nuclear test Feb. 12. Pyongyang threatened a pre-emptive strike on the United States with a nuclear weapon.

After the vote, China's U.N. ambassador, Li Baodong, said his nation wants to see "full implementation" of the sanctions.

My Comment:
When it comes to China respecting UN resolutions on embargoes .... I am skeptical .... especially when it comes to countries like North Korea. As far as the Chines are concerned, these North Korean weapon systems are not directed at them, and there is a lot of money to be made in North Korea.

But one could say they are directed at their investments in the US... China have as much to lose if N.Korea went ape-shit upon the world despite it being suicidal for them.

They really need to get real and face up to the real possibility that the situation in N.Korea needs to be dealt with.
