Is The American Public Interested In Benghazi?

Americans Have Been More Interested In The Benghazi Hearings Than The Benghazi Attacks -- Foreign Policy

Liberal commentators have dismissed today's hearings on the Obama administration's response to the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi as a purely political exercise aimed at scoring points against the Obama adminsitration rather than bringing new information to light about the events in question. But the bad news for the administration is that the American public seems to be more interested in the politics of Benghazi than the actual event.

Here's a quick Google Trends chart showing the intensity of searches for "Benghazi" in the United States over the last 12 months:

My Comment: Sadly .... there is a lot of truth to the argument that the public .... if interested in Benghazi .... are more interested in the politics and not the actual attack itself. This is unfortunate because it appears that a number of administration officials clearly failed in providing the necessary security before and during the attack .... and should be held accountable. And as for the White House .... their explanations after the attack reveal a heavily politicized and partisan approach to a crisis that could have been easily handled by telling the truth .... but why they approached it in the matter that they did is something that I suspect we will never know.

Bottom line .... the main stream media will continue to ignore this story. Key questions will remain unanswered .... with my favorite one being where was the President during this crisis. And no one else in the administration will be held responsible or accountable for failures in providing the necessary security before and during the attack ... or for the false narrative that was peddled to the public in the days after the disaster.
