Guantanamo Bay Is Spectacularly Expensive -- Business Insider
In a speech on this week, President Barack Obama reaffirmed his intention to close down Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba.
"We've got to close Guantanamo," Obama said at a highly publicized press conference, before taking a moral stance. "The idea that we would still maintain forever a group of individuals that have not been tried — that needs to stop."
However, there's an even more basic factor: the numbers.
In a new Reuters report, the economics of the camp are laid out.
It's pretty ugly — as the U.S. and Cuba don't have good relations, almost everything at the camp has to be specially imported to the site. Here are some unsettling figures:

My Comment: I am surprised by these figures .... I thought it was more.

If Guantanamo has taught anything to anyone it's that it's much less of a hassle to just kill your targets rather then capture them for intelligence gaining purposes. Civil rights/ Miranda rights/ costs to appoint a lawyer - so much hassle for a whole lot of nothing. Jail is far too forgiving for these terrorists.
