Peace negotiations in Afghanistan between the United States and the Taliban could be derailed before they have even begun after the country's president suspended talks on a new long-term security deal.
Hamid Karzai has dropped out of talks about taking over the lead for security from the NATO coalition in protest at the way his government has been left out of initial peace negotiations.
The move adds to tensions a day after four U.S. soldiers were killed in a Taliban attack.
