* Syrian forces say they have captured the Khaldiyeh district of Homs, a rebel stronghold since the war began
* But Syrian Observatory for Human Rights say there is still scattered fighting in southern areas of the neighborhood
* Syrian TV aired footage of troops roaming deserted streets and waving flags in front of shell-scarred buildings
Once one of Syria's greatest cities, Homs now sits in ruins - a dusty and war-torn wasteland where death hangs on every corner.
The sounds of busy traffic, bustling markets and children playing in the streets have been replaced by the roar of fighter jets, exploding bombs and gunfire as government forces bid to crush rebel fighters hiding across the city.
And as these haunting aerial images show, the city now better resembles a post-apocalyptic ghost town than a booming metropolis of trade, culture and industry.
Today government troops moved a step closer to their goal as they captured a neighborhood that has been a rebel stronghold since the beginning of the Syrian uprising, dealing another blow to beleaguered opposition forces in the center of the country.

My Comment: So the Syrian army with their Hezbollah allies were able to retake Homs over the weekend. Looking at the above pictures .... there is not much there to celebrate.
