Yet the self-confessed National Security Agency leaker has managed to orchestrate a very different political phenomenon: the biggest bout of anti-Americanism since the Iraq war.

When he first revealed his identity a month ago while in Hong Kong, Mr Snowden used selective disclosures about US global surveillance to rally public opinion in China and Russia. Since then, he has managed to create uproar in Europe with information about the bugging of EU offices and over the past week he has created a new international stir in Latin America.

My Comment: Edward Snowden's NSA revelations is big news in Asia, Russia, Europe, and Latin America. In the Middle East the focus is on the civil war in Syria and on the unrest in Egypt .... but even there the NSA leaks still makes the news. The place where the NSA leaks are not extensively covered is .... you guess it .... the U.S.. The Zimmerman trial, President Obama liking broccoli, Justin Bieber peeing in a janitor's pail and then calling former President Clinton to apologize .... now that is news. So when reports of anti-Americanism is on the rise .... not surprisingly .... this is not covered in the U.S.. So kudos to the Financial Times for posting this story .... at least some American readers will know what is happening "out there".
