Lincoln Memorial Vandalized In Mystery Green Paint Attack And Now Closed For Clean-Up -- Daily Mail
Washington's Lincoln Memorial was temporarily closed on Friday after someone defaced the national landmark with green paint.
U.S. Park Police say the apparent vandalism was discovered around 1:30 a.m. Paint was found on the statue itself, the pedestal and the floor around the much-loved monument.
No words, letters or symbols were visible, and officers are still trying to establish motives and suspects in the mystery attack.
Capt. Steven Booker says the paint spill 'appears intentional based off of the splatter.' He says police are reviewing security camera footage to try to identify possible suspects.
The statue is open 24 hours a day but there are surveillance cameras on each corner of the famous monument.
