'Mass Panic': Car chase from White House to Capitol ends in gunfire, suspect dead -- FOX News

A chaotic car chase that began when a woman tried to ram a security barrier near the White House ended with shots being fired near the U.S. Capitol, putting the Hill temporarily on lockdown and causing what one witness described as "mass panic."

Capitol Hill sources confirm to Fox News that the suspect is dead.

Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, also told Fox News that the woman originally tried to run down a Secret Service agent near the White House. The agent then fired on her and the chase began.

According to U.S. Capitol Police, one officer was injured in a related car crash.
