Google Chairman "Shocked" At NSA Tapping

Google's Schmidt 'Outraged' By NSA Snooping -- CNN

Allegations of intrusive data collection by the National Security Agency have "shocked" and "outraged" executives at Google, according to chairman and former CEO Eric Schmidt.

"I was shocked that the NSA would do this -- perhaps a violation of law but certainly a violation of mission," Schmidt told CNN. "This is clearly an overstep."

Schmidt was speaking just days after documents leaked by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden revealed that the agency has apparently tapped into the fiber optic cables that carry data between the servers of major American tech companies including Google (GOOG, Fortune 500) and Yahoo (YHOO, Fortune 500).

My Comment: So ... the Google Chairman is now outraged by the NSA spying program. Where has he been for the past few months? Why has been silent until now? Or more to the point .... why do he and his colleagues still give campaign donations and pac support to the same politicians who mandate what the NSA can do and cannot do.

To put it more bluntly .... either he is naive (which I doubt) .... or he had a good idea on what they were doing, but the details were still a mystery to him. Either way .... his credibility on this issue is still lacking.

If Google so outraged, why does his outfit collect data on every person using his site and then sell that ifo for ads etc?
