Nazi Art Hoarder's £1Billion Collection Included Previously Unknown Works By Chagall And Matisse, Investigators Reveal -- Daily Mail

* Unknown works by Chagall, Matisse and Dix in Cornelius Gurlitt's hoard
* He did not have a bank account, pension or insurance
* He lived off the collection of 1,500 works, selling them when he needed to
* Collector Hildebrandt Gurlitt ordered for them to be destroyed in 1945
* Experts claim most were acquired from Jews in exchange for escape

The £1billion hoard of paintings found in the squalid Munich flat of Cornelius Gurlitt contained previously unknown works by Matisse, Marc Chagall and Otto Dix, investigators have revealed.

Customs officials found an astonishing treasure trove of modernist paintings at the residence of Gurlitt, 80, and promptly confiscated it.

The 1,500 works - some of them priceless - were said to have been lost to the flames when Allied aircraft bombed Dresden in 1945.

Hi, Kelleyward. Your post here is so interesting and helpful and has so many "bells and whistles". It is riveting - both content and visual impact. I don't know how much my appreciation means, as I'm so new here, but I read lots of magazines with financial info and it compared favorably to many of their articles.
