Russia To Train Sappers For Afghan Army -- RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, December 18 (RIA Novosti) – The Russian military will train combat engineers for the Afghan army to ensure safe and efficient mine sweeping in the war-torn Central Asian country, Russia’s defense minister said Wednesday.

“We are working on the creation of a training center to prepare sappers for mine sweeping in Afghanistan,” Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting with university students in Moscow.

Shoigu said that the training would be carried out through interpreters speaking dialects commonly used in Afghanistan.

My Comment: This will be the first of many joint Russian - Afghan military exercises and training programs.

Didn't the Soviet get bombed out of Afghanistan by Shoulder-to-Air Stinger Missiles?

Now that MENA region has a new version of Shoulder-Fired Ground-to-Air Missiles the Russians do not want to miss out on the Meat Grinder?
