Ukraine Government Survives In Parliament, Rage Boils Outside -- Reuters

(Reuters) - Ukraine's embattled government held onto power in parliament on Tuesday but President Viktor Yanukovich left on a trip to China with much of the center of the capital in the hands of furious protesters who say they will not leave until he quits.

Yanukovich's decision to spurn a trade and integration pact with the European Union has split the country between those who see its future with Europe and those who yearn for better ties with its old Soviet masters in Moscow.

Opponents hope to mount a re-run of the 2004-5 "Orange Revolution" that overthrew Ukraine's post-Soviet order and doomed Yanukovich's first attempt to become president.

My Comment: I have a lot of cousins who live outside (and inside) of Kiev. They are naturally deeply concerned on what is happening .... in short .... they see the country becoming deeply divided (Ukrainian nationalists and EU supporters on one side and pro-Russian supporters on the other)  ..... and they do not see any resolution in sight. As to what is my take .... I hope that the army is not ordered to remove these protestors, and to his credit the Ukrainian President has vowed to not to put troops on the street. But the economic/financial situation in the country is now at a crisis point .... and if the situation gets worse (which it will) .... anything is going to be possible.
