Teen Photographer Killed While Covering Civil War In Syria -- New York Daily News/Reuters

Molhem Barakat, 17, had shot pictures for Reuters since May. He died while covering a battle over a hospital.

BEIRUT - A Syrian photographer who took pictures for Reuters on a freelance basis has been killed while covering fighting in Aleppo, activists said.

Molhem Barakat, 17, died on Friday as he took photographs of a battle over a hospital between rebels and forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad. Rebels had accused government forces of turning the Kindi Hospital into a barracks.

As well as covering the conflict, Barakat took pictures showing the life of ordinary Syrians in the divided city, which used to be Syria's commercial hub.

My Comment: Looking at his pictures it is obvious that he was always on the front lines. This makes you wonder if news agencies should pay teenagers money to take pictures in dangerous war zones .... but then again .... the photos that he did take were and are remarkable.
