Gertz: U.S. Will Not Tell The ‘Truth About China’ -- Washington Free Beacon
WFB Senior Editor: Chinese on mission to become world's most dominant power

My Comment: Being someone who has been traveling to China regularly since the mid-1980s .... and living there for one year (1988) .... I have a certain perspective. Bill Gertz is right about the rampant commercialization and the desire to make money that is now sweeping China .... everyone in China now wants to have what we take for granted in the West (home, a country home, TV, car, good food, clothes, the freedom to travel, health plan, etc.). .... and they want it yesterday. But China is also a one party state with a constitution that is steeped in Communist ideology. They are also fiercely nationalistic .... and they want to be Asia's super power and one of the dominant powers in the world. But in this arena they are in competition with other powers .... Japan, India, the U.S., etc.... and it is not going to be an easy path if this is the route that they eventually choose to take.
