A Look At The Four Russian Billionaires Who Have Been Sanctioned By The U.S. Treasury For Their Ukraine Involvement

U.S. Treasury Sanctions Four Russian Billionaires For Ukraine Involvement -- Forbes

The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) today authorized sanctions on 20 Russians, including sixteen government officials and four billionaires, for their roles in the nation’s Ukrainian exploits.

According to a press release, the individuals are designated for supporting senior Russian government officials. In reality, all four of the billionaires are known to be personal friends of Putin and have gotten richer under his regime, though their luck appears to be changing.

Under the U.S. Treasury’s ruling, assets belonging to designated individuals within U.S. jurisdiction will be frozen, and business between U.S. entities and the Russian parties in question will be halted.

My Comment: You know that it is serious when even Chelsea soccer club owner Roman Abramovich could be hit with sanctions. As for the four Russian billionaires that have been targeted already.... this is uncharted territory and one can only imagine the blow-back from it. More to the point .... just imagine if the fortunes of Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Larry Ellison, Michael Bloomberg, George Soros, Bill and Hillary Clinton, the Bushes,  etc. were at risk at being lost .... what would they do to save it?
