Canada Ends It's Military Operations In Afghanistan

 

Canada’s Afghan Mission Comes to a Close -- Wall Street Journal 

Wednesday marked the formal end to Canada’s military presence in Afghanistan, the largest deployment of the country’s armed forces since the Second World War.

At NATO’s International Security Assistance Force headquarters in Kabul, Canadian dignitaries and the country’s military chief watched as the Canadian flag was lowered after flying there for more than 12 years.

In that time, roughly 40,000 members of the Canadian Armed Forces served in Afghanistan as part of a NATO mission aimed to counter insurgents in the country — mostly in the Afghan province of Kandahar — and offer support for Afghan’s security forces.
