China Draws 'Red Line' On North Korea, Says Won't Allow War On Peninsula -- Reuters

(Reuters) - China declared a "red line" on North Korea on Saturday, saying that China will not permit chaos or war on the Korean peninsula, and that peace can only come through denuclearization.

China is North Korea's most important diplomatic and economic supporter, though Beijing's patience with Pyongyang has been severely tested following three nuclear tests and numerous bouts of saber rattling, including missile launches.

But to whom is this statement addressed ?

As for the US, a continuously divided Korea with threatened but unrealized war is the gift that keeps on giving to China.

Any war resulting in unification is unacceptable to both powers. The US likes a reason to have its air bases one air-hour from Shanghai and Beijing, and China likes not having a US-allied country on its border.
