Hamas in Gaza Takes War Against Israel Underground, Literally -- Time
Israeli officials have discovered yet another tunnel reaching into their country from Hamas' territory in Gaza, the fourth such find in 18 months, raising fears the organization is planning ambushes from yet-undiscovered passageways under their feet
The discovery of yet another concrete tunnel reaching into Israel from the Gaza Strip has alarmed the Israeli military, now increasingly fearful of an ambush by militants attacking from underground. The latest tunnel, discovered late last week, was revealed on Tuesday to be the longest yet, reaching almost half a mile into Israeli territory.
It was also the fourth discovered in the last 18 months, and was unearthed, like others, by chance —in this case after heavy rains washed away topsoil, exposing concrete noticed by an Israeli farmer. Hamas, the militant Palestinian group that governs Gaza, acknowledged ownership and military intent. Lined with concrete and outfitted with electric lights and ventilators, the passage was tall enough to allow dozens of fighters to emerge inside Israel in a matter of minutes, perhaps to swarm nearby kibbutzim, overrun lightly manned military posts and kidnap local residents or soldiers.

My Comment: There has to be more tunnels.

So the world screams at Israel for keeping Gaza under a strict blockade since Hamas's violent takeover in 2007 and for refusing to let building materials in as they are considered dual purpose.
Under intense pressure from so called Human Rights groups and the Quartet in 2010, Israel relents and starts allowing construction materials in and instead of using those materials to build schools or hospitals or other infrastructure to better the population, Hamas uses those materials to build these tunnels so they can kill more Jews.
This tunnel leads apparently to a civilian Kibbutz, the bastards are not even targeting a military installation, just like their 'peace' rockets that are aimed at civilian populations...
January 26th, 2014 - Israel approves transfer of 1000 tons of cement and building supplies- (Times of Israel Website)
The last tunnel was estimated to have used 500 tons and was aimed at another civilian Kibbutz, this new tunnel is larger.
I think it's time for a clean out...
Mattathias ben Johanan: Yes, you guys are going to have to go in. It sucks, but if you don't it'll get much much worse.
@James - The thing is, let's be realistic, the crap that's going on in the North ain't going to go away and that's where the real trouble is.
In the South it's more like Mosquitos, but you can't fight the true fight against the 'axis/crecent of evil' whilst you are being bitten on the arse by the Mosquitos, (too much distraction but not impossible either, just not ideal) those Human Rights NGO's and the 52 Islamic States in the UN plus 'sympathetic cohorts' are always going to get a majority in the UNGA and are going to cause all sorts of problems the day the clean out happens.
However, you need to do a complete clean out in the South before you can chop the head off the snake in Persia.
All this bluster about Iran ain't going to happen until the South is clear, finally you have an Egyptian government who sees eye to eye with us and about bloody time.
The day you see that hell hole cleared out, count your bottom dollar Iran/Syria and Hizbull-Shaitan are next...
Whenever I speak with my family in Israel, or my wife and her family, actually truth be told, anyone and everyone I know in Israel, it's never ever if..., it's always about when.....
Now as an avid follower of this blog, my major concern is that when it does kick off and it's going to be nasty, is that all these other simmering conflicts will think 'Hey, attention is diverted, let's sort our own backyard out' and then it's 1914/39 again on a whole new level..
This is what keeps me awake at night...
Of course this is my opinion, and opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one..!!!! :)
I truly hope I am wrong
Mattathias: Pretty much agree. The Israelis have always excelled at strategic and tactical surprise, so I rule nothing out on the order of operations. The one thing they must be absolutely dead certain is of their assessment of Egyptian intention and capabilities, for once they decide to deal with Syria, Hezbollah, and Iran they'll have to pretty much turn their exposed back on Egypt.
@James - indeed, Egypt is the wild card, there may be peace but it is a very cold peace
