Only Talks Between Russia And Ukraine Can Solve Crisis, Say US And UK -- The Guardian
Statement released by foreign ministers from Ukraine, US, and Britain calls for direct talks after two sides fail to meet in Paris
Leading western and Ukrainian diplomats agreed on Wednesday that only direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine can resolve the crisis in the Crimean peninsula. The US secretary of state, John Kerry, and British foreign secretary, William Hague, also agreed that a team of international observers should be deployed immediately to prevent Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine and Crimea.
"The United States, United Kingdom and Ukraine agreed that direct talks between Ukraine and Russia, faciliatated as needed by members of the international community, are crucial to resolving the current situation," the foreign ministers said in a statement. Earlier, Russian diplomats refused a request to order the pro-Russian "self-defence" forces that have taken over the Crimean peninsula to pull back in the first day of face-to-face talks with the US aimed at resolving the Ukraine crisis.

My Comment: Both the U.S. and U.K. are correct .... but right now both Russia and Ukraine do not see "eye to eye" on many issues. For the moment .... the Ukraine government will consolidate it's power and try to obtain the necessary loans and financial aid that it needs to shore up it's finances, and Russia will stay in a holding pattern as the regions that it controls go about preparing a referendum that will probably result with them splitting away from Kiev.
