An American warship arrived in the Black Sea south of Crimea today, as the row between the White House and the Kremlin over Ukraine descended into gun-boat diplomacy.
Guided-missile destroyer USS Truxton was seen heading north through Istanbul, Turkey, along the Bosphorous Strait, as Washington rushed to reassure allies over Russia's seizure of the peninsula.
The Crimean port of Sevastopol is home to Russia's Black Sea fleet, which includes 24 warships, two submarines and 16,000 sailors and marines.
