The CIA’s deputy director during the Benghazi attack responded to Republican allegations Wednesday that he lied to Congress.

In a rare open hearing, Michael Morell, the deputy CIA director during the 9-11 anniversary assault in Benghazi on Wednesday, fired back at Republicans who have alleged that he cherry picked intelligence for government-wide talking points in the aftermath of the attacks.

The former deputy and acting director of the CIA has come under fire in the last month from some Republicans for allegedly lying to Congress and editing the now infamous Benghazi talking points. My Comment: CIA Deputy Director Mike Morell's U.S. Senate testimony today was disturbing. Case in point .... the station chief in Libya was very clear in the information that he was relaying back to Washington on what was happening in Benghazi .... but for reasons that I still do not understand .... CIA Deputy Director Mike Morell made the decision to disregard the guidance and intelligence from this CIA station chief. The station chief is there .... not the Deputy Director. If this is how the CIA and Washington work .... why have a CIA station chief anywhere .... if they are ignored they should then all be brought  back home.

Update: Here is another thing that I do not understand. The Libyan CIA Station Chief during the Benghazi attack gave his first classified Congressional testimony on Benghazi on yesterday (Tuesday). OMG! This person should have been brought up to testify 18 months ago .... not yesterday. It is bad enough that the White House has been dragging their feet on this issue for the past year and a half .... but the Republicans have also not done their job in following up on this case. A U.S. Ambassador and three Americans were killed by an Al Qaeda affiliated group .... questions need to be asked, and answers need to be brought forward.
