Kiev Report Blames Ex-Ukraine Leader Yanukovych For Protest Deaths -- CNN

Russian recalled its ambassador to NATO, Col Gen. Valery Yevnevich, for consultations after NATO member countries said they suspended cooperation with Russia over the Ukraine crisis, the Russian news outlet ITAR-TASS reported, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov's comments to reporters Thursday. "The policy of [deliberately] whipping up tensions is not our choice. Nonetheless, we see no possibility to continue military cooperation with NATO in a routine regime," he is quoted as saying.

The killings of protesters in the Ukrainian capital during anti-government demonstrations in February took place under the order of ousted President Viktor Yanukovych, a report said Thursday.

The preliminary report by the Ukrainian government implicated pro-Moscow Yanukovych in the covert planning of a series of sniper attacks in Kiev, backed by Russia, during the rallies that eventually led him to flee across the border.
