Ukraine Govt Asks Public To Donate Soap, Linen For Special ‘Anti-Separatist’ Units -- RT
The cash-stripped Ukrainian Interior Ministry is asking the public for donations to equip the newly formed special forces. It is offering a place in a public commission, which would control the cash flow, to biggest donors.
The ministry has recruited 8,000 out of a planned 12,000 troops since April 13, when Interior Minister Arsen Avakov decided to form the new units in response to the wave of protests in eastern Ukraine. But it lacks the money to properly equip them, it said in a statement.
“The state budget allocates funds for the functioning of the special units of the Interior Ministry. But in they are not enough in the circumstance of rigid resource saving, state spending sequestering and an economic war unleashed by the Russian Federation,” the statement said.

My Comment: This report is from RT (Russia Television) .... so I am skeptical. But I have been constantly hearing/reading/and seeing via through video reports that the "Ukraine military units" sent into the eastern part of the country are poorly equipped .... and not as disciplined as the Ukrainian government likes to paint them.
Update: My cousin's son who served in the Ukraine military until last year just told me that the biggest problem is food for these units .... or more to the point ..... the lack of it..

Yeah, those guys look like they do this for a living, but I keep seeing pics where out of shape guys have mismatched camo and gear, and look like they are on thier way to an informal paintball game. I wonder what percentage of these guy have been involved in actual campaigns and to what extent for how long.
I understand the concepts of fight to the end, fight for what you stand for, put up a good fight, don't back down, and don't give an inch but we aren't just talking about troop preparedness here. Is Ukraine prepared to allow a situation where Russian munitions are bouncing around the cities killing women and children because they won't throw in the towel? Putin supports Assad in Syria so I'm pretty sure he would support a campaign of similar appearance thruought Ukraine if the Ukrainian troops put up a fight to the death. I'm pretty sure Putin would mow the country to the ground and rebuild it if that is what it takes.
I see no way Ukraine can win a military confrontation with Russia without international military support and that could become WW III within a few hours. I see two choices here for Ukraine and the world. Peacefully hand Ukraine over to Russia or risk ignighting the fuse on a bomb that could end civilization on earth. At this point I think it isn't about how bad Ukraine wants its borders but how many people they are willing to lose to hold them.
I'm part Ukrainian and I don't like it, but from my lazyboy in America, I think it would be best if we all let Russia take this one.
