A new book on the hidden life of Fidel Castro claims the Cuban leader lived in luxury on his own private island, which included a turtle farm.

It was thought that Castro, who is now rarely seen in public, lived a simple, austere life similar to his fellow Cubans in the communist country.

However, in the new book La Vie Cachée de Fidel Castro (Fidel Castro's Hidden Life), a former bodyguard says Castro never renounced 'capitalist comforts'.

My Comment: I love hearing from those who are saying the opposite .... that when they meet him they are surprised that he is living a simple life. Here is one of my rules of life .... in every communist dictatorship the dictator's media handlers go out of their way to show their leader living a simple and austere lifestyle. Case in point .... being one who grew up in the former Soviet Union it was required reading for me to know everything about Stalin. In every public photograph that I saw he was shown living a very simple and austere life in a very simple and sparsely furnished apartment in the Kremlin. I have been in the Kremlin .... and I have seen the part that is not shown to the public .... and I can assure you that the wealth and richness that is present there would blow your socks away .... including the "apartment" that Stalin lived in. Even President Obama .... when he was given a private tour of the place .... remarked later that in all of his travels he never saw wealth like that.

So trust me on this one .... Fidel Castro's real home .... the home that is never shown to the public .... would also blow everyone's socks away.
