China Plans For North Korean Regime Collapse Leaked -- The Telegraph

Beijing's lack of faith in rule of Kim Jong-un exposed in contingency plans to detain key North Korean leaders, set up border refugee camps and respond to "foreign forces"

China has drawn up detailed contingency plans for the collapse of the North Korean government, suggesting that Beijing has little faith in the longevity of Kim Jong-un’s regime.

Documents drawn up by planners from China’s People’s Liberation Army that were leaked to Japanese media include proposals for detaining key North Korean leaders and the creation of refugee camps on the Chinese side of the frontier in the event of an outbreak of civil unrest in the secretive state.

The report calls for stepping up monitoring of China’s 879-mile border with North Korea.

Any senior North Korean military or political leaders who could be the target of either rival factions or another “military power,” thought to be a reference to the United States, should be given protection, the documents state.

My Comment: This leak comes from China .... more specifically .... the Chinese military. In China .... information and intel is never leaked unless Beijing permits it .... and in this case it is obvious that Beijing is sending a message to North Korea that they are expecting the situation to deteriorate if Kim Jong-Un stays in power.

But the part of this report that I found most revealing was the last sentence ....

.... China, which is North Korea’s sole remaining significant supporter, also refused to export any crude oil over its border to the North in the first three months of the year.

In short .... it looks like North Korea is running out of oil.

One good thing there - if China cuts off their oil, that pretty much ends any chance they have of conducting a modern war campaign.

I'm not even sure how well their many pieces of tube artillery will function in that event. Are they purely manually run in and out of their caves? Is the ammo delivered purely manually? (or with manual backups) - even if so, I'm hopeful that'll at least slow down their rate of fire and ability to defend them.

Hmmm... so are they releasing this information as a way of convincing the west that they will handle a collapse and the west should not interfere? Basically... a hat tip saying "we are aware, we have made plans in case of this event, this is in our neighborhood so if we want help during the collapse we'll ask for it and coordinate all relief efforts."?

"Other military power" - not so much the US as South Korea.
