Ukraine's critical presidential election got under way today, but thousands of polling stations remained closed in the country's troubled eastern regions.
The vote is taking place three months after the removal of the country's pro-Russia leader, who was chased from power after months of protests triggered by his decision to reject a pact with the European Union and forge closer ties with Moscow.
There were no immediate reports of fighting in the eastern regions today after weeks of intense battles, but it was not clear how much voting would take place in the east.

My Comment: Voting in the eastern part of Ukraine has been effectively shut down. I know that the West is going to spin this election as a success .... but on the ground .... especially in Donetsk and Luhansk .... it is definitely not.
